Canon are always quick to react on feedback in the photographic community and they genuinely listen to their customer base. So when rumours started appearing in the various Canon forums, regarding their recent firmware update to the R5 and R6 causing problems of intermittent lock up when using the AF-button and SERVO AF, they set about working on a fix.
It must be said that when firmware version 1.5 was introduced it was a game changer, in terms of AF improvements and additional subject tracking. This included cars and motorcycles and whilst the lock up issue was not universal and only appeared to impact upon a small percentage of users (in relation to those who downloaded and installed the software), one of those was a client who attended our British Wildlife Centre day.
So Canon have been working hard behind the scenes to eradicate this issue and as such they have recently released V1.5.1. This can be downloaded and installed from the link below.
For those customers who have recently purchased either of these models and it was supplied with v1.5, we would be happy to perform the upgrade for you (drop in customers only).
Canon are also rumoured to provide a further upgrade later this month with yet more improvements and soon as we have more info we will be posting this accordingly.
